E-2 investor visas, like E-1s, are based upon treaties of friendship, commerce and navigation or other arrangements between the U.S. and a country of which the investor is a national. The E-2 investor visa is not commonly seen as being a doorway to becoming a U.S. citizen. But it is a good way for someone who substantially invests in their company in the United States to obtain a visa. Such an investor can reap substantial benefits from acquiring an E-2 visa and coming to this country.
