Business Visa's for U.S.A.

Picture
E-2 investor visas, like E-1s, are based upon treaties of friendship, commerce and navigation or other arrangements between the U.S. and a country of which the investor is a national. The E-2 investor visa is not commonly seen as being a doorway to becoming a U.S. citizen. But it is a good way for someone who substantially invests in their company in the United States to obtain a visa. Such an investor can reap substantial benefits from acquiring an E-2 visa and coming to this country. Along with being able to bring your spouse and dependent children to the U.S. and the fact that your spouse may seek employment, you may travel freely throughout the country and work at the company in which you have invested. If you are applying for E-2 status within the U.S. the E2 is valid for two years but may be renewed as long as you qualify for the visa.

OBTAINING A GREEN CARD THROUGH INVESTMENT

10,000 immigrant visas per year are available to qualified individuals seeking permanent resident status on the basis of their engagement in a new commercial enterprise. Of the 10,000 investor visas (i.e., EB-5 visas) available annually, 5,000 are set aside for those who apply under a pilot program involving an CIS-designated “Regional Center", which is defined as:
  • An entity, organization or agency that has been approved as such by the Service;
  • Focuses on a specific geographic area within the United States; and ,
  • Seeks to promote economic growth through increased export sales, improved regional productivity, creation of new jobs, and increased domestic capital investment.

    • Demonstrate that a "qualified investment" (see below) is being made in a new commercial enterprise located within an approved Regional Center; and,
    • Show, using reasonable methodologies, that 10 or more jobs are actually created either directly or indirectly by the new commercial enterprise through revenues generated from increased exports, improved regional productivity, job creation, or increased domestic capital investment resulting from the pilot program.
